How to know Jesus
Christ as Savior

Receive Christ As Your Savior
Do you feel good when you know you've made a good decision? There is a sense of satisfaction and confidence that can give you a boost. Will you make the best, most important decision you'll ever make in your life… Will you ask Jesus Christ to be your personal savior from your sin? When you take this step, you will have a sense of satisfaction and confidence like no other you've ever experienced.

God Loves You
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

John 3:16 NKJV

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ [His Son] died for us.
Romas 5:8 NKJV

Can you imagine willingly sacrificing your child – your one and only child – for people who don’t even know you? That is exactly what God did for us. He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to come live on earth and suffer a horrible death so that we can live a life that will last forever, beyond our own death. God loves you so much and He wants to give you a life of hope and blessings if only you believe in His Son as your payment (Savior) for your sin.

We are each sinners
Both Jews and Greeks…are all under sin. There is none righteous, no, not one…there is none who seeks after God.
Romans 3:9-11

…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. - Romans 3:23

Did you ever think "he is such a hypocrite" or say of yourself "I am only human"? We all make mistakes. We are all sinners.

Sin comes with consequences
For the wages of sin is death… Romans 6:23a NKJV

That at that time you were without Christ…having no hope and without God in the world. - Ephesians 2:12

When someone commits a crime, they are responsible to pay the penalties associated with their crime. The same is true for sinners. The penalty for sin is eternal death in hell and separation from God.

Christ paid for your sins - He died in your place
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ [His Son] died for us.
Romans 5:8 NKJV

For He [God] made Him [Jesus Christ—the Son of God] who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him [Jesus Christ]. - 2 Corinthians 5:21

Jesus, Son of God, is the only person to have lived a life without sin. When He died on the cross, He took our sins on Himself. Jesus Christ paid the price for our sins so when God looks at us (if we are personally believing He died in our place) —God sees only the righteousness of Jesus Christ—and we can spend eternity in heaven.

Salvation is a free gift to you
…but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. - Romans 6:23b

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. - Ephesians 2:8-9 NKJV

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us… - Titus 3:5

Some think that being "a good person" or going to church or doing good things for others will reserve a place in heaven. It is not through the things you do be-cause we cannot "earn" our way into heaven. Instead, God gives you salvation as a free gift – all you have to do is believe in Jesus Christ, ask Him for forgive-ness of your sins, and receive the life in Christ that is awaiting you.

You must receive Christ as your Savior.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right [the right or authority] to become children of God—to those who believe in His name. - John 1:12 NKJV

When you receive Christ into your life, you become a member of the family of God. God has no grandchildren. You are His child.

How do I receive Christ?
If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.  For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.  For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.  For whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”- Romans 10:9-13 NKJV

You must acknowledge [confess] to God that you are a sinner and can’t save yourself.  You know and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died on the cross for you—in your place—and that He rose physically after 3 days from the grave. If you believe this, you can ask Jesus Christ to become your Savior and ask Him take control of your life as your Lord—and He promises He will!

If you want His forgiveness and want to receive Jesus Christ as your Savior and LORD, pray this prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus,
I am a sinner and I know I need You in my life.  Please forgive me of my sins.  I believe that You died on the cross in my place for my sins and rose from the grave.  Please come and live in my heart [in me] and take control of my life. Thank you for Your promise to forgive me of my sins and to give me the desire and help to follow You. In Jesus Name - Amen.

Why Pray?
Prayer is simple communication with God.  In Philippians 4:6-7, we are told, “Don’t worry [be anxious] about anything, but in everything by prayer and sup-plication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God [talk to Him]; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

What now?
If you received Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you are now part of the family of God! The following will help you deepen your relationship with Him:

1.  As stated above, prayer is simply you talking to God. Becoming a Christian (receiving Jesus Christ as your Savior) is not getting a new religion but having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Relationships are built upon communica-tion.  Take time every day to talk to Him.  It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, God is with you and hears you.

2.  Reading the Bible is God’s way speaking to you—of teaching you about Him-self.  Read the Bible everyday to learn about your God and Savior, Jesus Christ, and the way to live for Him.  Perhaps start with the books of John and Ephesians.

3.  An important part of helping your relationship with Christ grow is to tell others about Him.  We demonstrate God’s love when we are active in telling others about Jesus Christ and what He has done for us.

4.  Surrounding yourself with other Christians will help your faith grow—we Chris-tians call it fellowship.  Greystone Bible Church is a church filled with Christians who, like you, have also trusted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  Come and study the Bible with us—become active in worship and serving the LORD with us.

We would like to pray for you. Please contact us and let us know that you have received Christ's forgiveness of your sins.
