| 1941 - On New Years Eve, a group of believers (many from Bible classes taught by Evangelist Henry Grube) began meeting with the intent of establishing a preaching center where the best Bible teachers and preachers in America could be brought to Mobile. The group met in an old lumber barn on Scott Street. That group took the name, the Mobile Gospel Tabernacle with Evangelist Henry Grube as the founding pastor.
1944 - The facility on Scott Street burned to the ground. Since materials were unobtainable to rebuild due to World War II, a sea captain’s home, the Greystone mansion(located at 959 Government Street) was purchased and became the new location of the Mobile Gospel Tabernacle. 1946 - The property at 959 Government Street was remodeled and a 250+ seat auditorium was added to the mansion. 1948 - Greystone Christian School was started—one of the first academic Christian schools in the United States (besides parochial schools). 1952 - Dr. Henry Grube was recognized by Bob Jones University for his accomplishments in Pastoral Ministry/Evangelism and Christian Education and was awarded an honorary doctorate (D.D.). 1961 - Greystone Christian School (Kindergarten-9th grade) had out-grown the 959 Government Street facilities. Church services were held at both locations on Sunday mornings and at the Government Street location during the evenings. 1967 - Upon the completion and dedication to the glory of God of the auditorium at Azalea Road, the move to Azalea Road was completed and church services were consolidated as Greystone Bible Church. The 959 Government Street property was sold. 1969 - On August 28th, our founding pastor. Dr. Grube, was received into the presence of his LORD and Savior, Jesus Christ.
